The Inn of the Sixth Happiness
Gladys Aylward, an Englishwoman, had always known that she belonged in China. Gladys works as a domestic to earn the money to send herself to a poor, remote village because she is not qualified to be sent there as a missionary. She eventually has a full and happy life there, running the inn, acting as "foot inspector," advising the local Mandarin, and even winning the heart of mixed race Captain Lin Nan. Gladys, on the other hand, discovers her true destiny when Japan invades the country and the Chinese children rely on her to save their lives. Adapted from a true story.
