Cosmo Vittelli, owner of a seedy, low-rent Hollywood cabaret, has a genuine passion for the women who strip in his peepshows and the crew who maintain his drab facility in order. He also has a significant gambling issue, which has gotten him into trouble in the past. When Cosmo loses a large sum of money at an underground casino owned by mobster Mort, he is unable to recoup his losses.
