The King and the Mockingbird
King Charles V-et-III-font-VIII-et-VIII-font-XIV, the despotic ruler of Takicardie, is known for his penchant for bird-shooting as a favorite sport. One of the king's archenemies is a cheeky mockingbird, who enjoys sabotaging the king's attempts to hunt birds. One night, a painting of the monarch comes to life and deposes the real king, assuming his position. The portrait monarch is smitten with a young shepherdess depicted in another painting and plans to marry her as soon as possible. However, the shepherdess has fallen in love with a chimneysweep, and the two of them decide to flee from the king's palace together. Enraged, the monarch dispatches his police to apprehend them, and once they are in his possession, he forces the shepherdess to become his wife. The mockingbird must employ all of his cunning and bravery in order to defy the king once more and bring his wicked reign to an end.
