U.S. Marine Sergeant Logan Thibault returns from his third tour of duty in Iraq with the one thing he credits with keeping him alive: a photograph he found of a woman he doesn't even know. He brings the photograph back with him to the United States. After finding out her name is Beth and where she lives, he knocks on her door and eventually gets a job working at the local kennel that is owned and operated by her family. In spite of her early suspicion and the complexities in her life, the two of them build a romantic relationship, which gives Logan optimism that Beth could be much more than just his lucky charm in the long run.
