Tom Powers and Matt Doyle, two teenage Chicago hoodlums, ascend from the squalor of their ghetto life to become petty thieves, bootleggers, and cold-blooded assassins, respectively. However, as a result of their increased street visibility and newfound fortune, the duo is under increased scrutiny from both the police and competing criminals. To his credit, Tom makes an effort to maintain a connection with his family, but gang violence and the need for retribution finally force him to abandon his efforts.
