The first stages of the Tour de France are moved from France to Ireland in the summer of '98. Dom Chabol (late 30s), a Belgian cyclist, has been one of the most reliable "Domestiques" (support riders) on the Tour de France for the past 20 years. Setting the pace, blocking wind, and providing support to the team's sprinter is a self-sacrifice position, and winning is not an option in this situation. Dom, on the other hand, secretly yearns to don the yellow jersey just once more before his professional cycling career comes to an end. Dom is summarily dropped from the Team to which he has devoted his entire life at the outset of what will almost certainly be his final Tour. His best friend Sonny, the team masseur, is unable to provide him with any assurances concerning his future. In the meantime, a chance encounter with Lynn, a young Irish doctor, helps Dom adjust to the concept of civilian life and even begins to look forward to it in certain ways. While preparing to return home and confront his estranged sister, a catastrophic doping blunder forces another teammate off the Tour de France, forcing Dom back into the saddle...
