Immediately following World War I, Armistice Lloyd Hart returns to the practice of law, former saloon keeper George Hally turns to bootlegging, and unemployed Eddie Bartlett takes up the profession of taxi driver. The supply of bootleg liquor helps Eddie develop a taxi business, which he then uses to recruit Lloyd as his lawyer. After becoming Eddie's partner, George sees his business prosper until love and competition get in the way.
