All of last winter's hides are on their way to the town. An Indian tribe stops him and removes all his skins, leaving just Joseph. To reclaim his land, Joe pursues them, displacing Joseph. An angry band of scalphunters led by Howie raids the Indians before he can act. They capture not just the skins, but also Joseph. Joe now stalks them alone, trying to hoodwink the numerically superior pack.
