Steven Ray was never a typical person. However, when tragedy hits in the shape of a fatal crosswalk hit-and-run, his violent and odd behavior becomes uncontrollable. It is one night while Steven plots his next murder that Percival's attempted suicide attempt thwarts his plan and brings the two of them together in their sad and lonely lives. This belief is supported by the fact that Percival has survived all of his suicide attempts, which he attributes to the hand of fate. As a result, he employs Steven to be his go-to guy for the act. As per Steven's opinion, Percival is desperate and delusional and has no faith in fate. The offer is accepted, however. Money is easy to make. Steven begins to believe when Percival mysteriously survives each assassination attempt. He tries to help Percival come up with strategies to release the curse. Through their shared experience of grief, they create an unusual connection.
