More than a dozen of the children in a small Canadian mountain town are killed in a school bus accident. A lawyer from a large city arrives to assist the families of survivors and victims in preparing a class-action lawsuit, but his efforts only appear to drive a wedge between the town's residents. Simultaneously, one adolescent survivor of the accident must come to terms with the loss of innocence resulting from a different type of injury.
