Wart is a young boy with aspirations of becoming a knight's page. On a hunting excursion, Arthur encounters Merlin, a strong yet amnesic wizard who has greater ambitions for him than mere squireship. He begins by attempting to educate him, believing that with an education, one may go anywhere. Obviously, things don't quite work out that way.
