D'Artagnan travels to Paris in the hopes of becoming a musketeer, one of the French king's elite bodyguards, only to discover that the corps has been disbanded by the treacherous Cardinal Richelieu, who secretly wishes to usurp the throne. Athos, Porthos, and Aramis, fortunately, have refused to put down their weapons and have continued to defend their monarch. D'Artagnan helps the rogues in uncovering Richelieu's plot against the king.
