The Train
In August1944, as the Allies approach Paris, German Colonel Von Waldheim is frantic to bring all of France's best paintings back to Germany. Even as the chaos of withdrawal settles upon them, he manages to secure a train to transfer the precious art objects. The French resistance, on the other hand, wishes to prevent them from seizing their national treasures, but London has ordered that they not be destroyed. Labiche, the station master, is in charge of scheduling the train and ensuring that everything runs properly, but he is also a member of a small gang of resistance fighters entrusted with thwarting the robbery. He and others concoct a complex scheme to prevent the train from leaving French territory.
