Unlike your typical Montreal West high school student, Leon Bronstein excels academically. Among his many distinguishing characteristics is the fact that no one among his contemporaries can claim to be a reincarnation of the early twentieth-century Soviet iconoclast and Red Army hero, Leon Trotsky. Because he is determined to live out his pre-ordained destiny to the fullest and to change the world, Leon is sent to public school as a punishment for starting a hunger strike at Papa's clothing factory. Leon quickly gives new meaning to the term'student union,' as he quickly proves to be the definition of the term.
