To the Beat follows twins Mia and Mackie Castillo, 14, who have been dancing since they were babies. That has been their sole love since they were three years old. They encourage one another throughout competitions and practices, despite the fact that they dance in distinct styles. Mia is a tap enthusiast, while Mackie is a jazz enthusiast. When their favorite pop musician holds an online contest to identify the most unusual dance group for his upcoming song video, the twins organize their own team to fight for the chance to perform in the video, enlisting the support of their friends and family to garner online votes. Meanwhile, their arch rival and neighbor, Avery, the world's best dancer (who also knows it), utilizes her charm and resources to gain an advantage in the battle.
