She was born in Africa and grew up as an orphan after her parents were killed by local greed and corruption. Mari McCabe moved to the US when she was a child. Mari, on the other hand, doesn't let herself be scared by the things that happen around her. It's because Mari has her family's Anansi Totem that she can use animals' special powers, like the strength of a gorilla or the speed of one. When she is Vixen, she fights hard to keep the world safe from threats like those that killed her family.
