The SummerSlam that took place in 2022 was the 35th iteration of the professional wrestling event that is presented annually by WWE. Wrestlers competing in the Raw and SmackDown brand divisions were invited to participate in the event. Peacock in the United States and the WWE Network in other countries both provided livestreaming services for the event, which was also shown on pay-per-view (PPV) around the world. SummerSlam was hosted at Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tennessee, on Saturday, July30,2022. It was the first time that SummerSlam was not held in the month of August. The event took place on a Saturday. Additionally, this was the first WWE Pay-Per-View event to take place after the retirement of WWE owner Vince McMahon, who had led the company as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer since 1982.
