His mother and her lover have moved the family to a trailer park, where Nick Twisp is a devotee of Albert Camus and Jean-Luc Godard. Nick, who is both frustrated and unexperienced, falls in love at first sight when his attractive neighbor Sheeni begins playing albums by French crooners. When Nick discovers that Sheeni is dating someone else, he sets out on a humorous journey to win her heart and bed.
