Akira Tachibana is a quiet high school student who used to be a member of the track and field club; however, because of an injury, she is no longer able to sprint as quickly as she was in the past. She is trying to make ends meet by working part-time at a family restaurant, and for some reason she finds herself falling in love with the restaurant's manager, who is a 45-year-old divorced father of a young child. In spite of the age difference, Akira accepts totally his quirks and his nice attitude, which the other workers at the company view as a lack of spine. Gradually, the two begin to comprehend each other's perspectives and motivations.
