Alfred Hitchcock Presents is an American television anthology series hosted by Alfred Hitchcock. The series included dramas, thrillers, and mysteries. Hitchcock had been directing pictures for more than three decades by the time the show began on October 2, 1955. Time magazine named Alfred Hitchcock Presents one of the "100 Best TV Shows of All-TIME." To capitalize on the success of the television series, a series of literary anthologies titled Alfred Hitchcock Presents was published. Alfred Hitchcock Presents: Stories They Wouldn't Let Me Do on TV was one volume devoted to stories that censors would not allow to be adapted for the TV series, though several of the stories collected were later adapted.
