Bagpuss is a British children's television series produced by Peter Firmin and Oliver Postgate through their firm Smallfilms from 12 February 1974 to 7 May 1974. The title character was "an ancient, baggy, fabric cat, with seams that were a little slack." Despite the fact that just 13 episodes were produced, the show is well remembered and was regularly rebroadcast in the UK for thirteen years. In 1999, a BBC poll found that Bagpuss was the most popular children's television program in the United Kingdom.
