Birds of a Feather is a British sitcom that aired on BBC One from 1989 to 1998 and on ITV beginning in 2013. It was developed by Laurence Marks and Maurice Gran, who also wrote some of the episodes, and starred Pauline Quirke, Linda Robson, and Lesley Joseph. In the first episode, sisters Tracey Stubbs and Sharon Theodopolopodos are reunited after their husbands are imprisoned for armed robbery. Sharon, who previously resided in an Edmonton public flat, relocates to Tracey's lavish home in Chigwell, Essex. Dorien Green, their next-door neighbor and later friend, is a middle-aged married lady who is continuously having affairs with younger men. The setting is shifted to Hainault in the following seasons. After a nine-year run, the series ended on Christmas Eve 1998. On 3 March 2009, The Mirror reported that the legendary sitcom was ready to return, stating that the team behind the show had requested Lesley Joseph, Pauline Quirke, and Linda Robson to make another season. Quirke was quoted as adding that if the writers came up with solid ideas, they were up for the challenge. Nothing further was mentioned after this rumor of a reappearance in early 2009. However, following a successful stage tour, Lesley Joseph hinted in July 2012 that Birds of a Feather would return for another series.
