Bob and Margaret

The animated TV show Bob and Margaret came from Canada and the UK, but it was shown in the US and all over the world. The show was made by Nelvana, an animation studio in Toronto, and created by David Fine, a Canadian, and Alison Snowden, a Brit. The show was based on the Oscar-winning animated short film Bob's Birthday, which had the same main characters and won the award for Best Animated Short Film in 1994. It is one of the few Canadian TV shows that has ever been shown regularly in the United States. When it aired in prime time on Global Television in Canada, it was the most popular Canadian animation show ever. The show was about a married English couple named Bob and Margaret Fish. They were in their 40s, had no kids, and had two dogs named William and Elizabeth. Bob works as a dentist, while Margaret works as a chiropodist. Bob and Margaret have trouble with day-to-day problems and a midlife crisis. Stories are often about everyday things, but in a way that makes them easy to relate to. From the challenges of shopping to dealing with annoying friends who owe them dinner. In the first two seasons, Bob and Margaret lived in Balham, a neighborhood in South London. For the third and fourth seasons, though, they moved to Toronto, Canada, which gave the writers a chance to show how funny it can be when people from different cultures meet. The move was actually caused by the way money works. Certain Canadian tax breaks are only available for stories set in Canada. So, the move was needed to keep funding for the series. The show's creators decided to take on an executive role for the last two seasons, reviewing scripts and giving advice but not being as involved in the details as they were in the first two seasons. Margaret's voice was still done by Snowden, but Andy Hamilton was replaced by Brian George as Bob's voice actor.
