In addition to her role as creator, Cidre also played an executive producing role on the show together with Jonathan Prince, Jimmy Iovine, and Polly Anthony. Christian Duguay was the director of the pilot episode. The show told the story of a strong and rich Cuban-American family who ran an extremely profitable rum and sugar cane business in South Florida, chronicling their lives as well as the power battles that occurred inside their own family. The sitcom debuted on CBS on September 25, 2007, and has been airing on Tuesday nights at 10:00/9:00c since then. It was produced by ABC Studios, CBS Paramount Network Television, El Sendero Productions, Interscope Records, and Once A Frog Productions. The first episode of the new series was watched by 11 million people, making it the most successful premiere in its time slot since Judging Amy in 1999.
