Cap Town. Mat Joubert used to be the best police captain. He solved every crime and caught every killer. But that was a year ago, before his undercover wife Lara was killed. Since then, Mat's life has been going downhill. His past is fuzzy, and he doesn't know what part he played in his wife's death. Now, Mat is out of shape and smokes all the time. He isn't sure how he feels about the crime-filled world around him. Mat starts to get over the ghosts of his past bit by bit. But he has to go back to the nightmare of his wife's murder in order to stop the violence in his current cases.
