In1995, Chuck Lorre produced the American television sitcom Cybill, which ran on CBS from January 2 through July 13 of 1998. As Cybill Sheridan, a divorced mother of two and struggling actress in her forties who has yet to find her big break, Cybill Shepherd is the star of the show. As Sheridan's kids, Alicia Witt and Dedee Pfeiffer shared the screen with Alan Rosenberg and Tom Wopat, respectively, while Christine Baranski portrayed Cybill's booze-crazed companion Maryann. In addition to Carsey-Werner Productions and YBYL Productions, the initial executive producers of the show were Marcy Carsey and Tom Werner, as well as Shepherd, Lorre, Howard Gould, Jay Daniel, and Tom Werner. Critics loved Cybill, which was nominated for twelve Emmy Awards and won the 1996 Golden Globe Award for Best Television Series–Musical or Comedy. Both Shepherd and Baranski were honored with three Emmys, a SAG and the American Comedy Awards for their performances.
