Emergency+4 is based on the live-action programme Emergency!. The show lasted for two seasons on NBC's Saturday morning lineup, with 23 30-minute episodes. It ran till September4, 1976 in reruns. Randolph Mantooth and Kevin Tighe voiced EMTs in Emergency! Each episode centered on Paramedical Rescue Service. The"+4" in the title alludes to four children who accompany the paramedics in each episode's rescue efforts. Universal Studios outsourced animation to Fred Calvert Productions because they lacked one at the time.
