Family Feud is an American game show in which two families compete against one another to identify the 100 most popular answers to a survey question. Mark Goodson and Bill Todman established the show in the United States, and it is now shown in several local versions around the world. Family Feud has aired during 30 non-consecutive seasons since its debut in 1976. Richard Dawson hosted the show from its 1976 debut on ABC until its cancellation in1985, by which time it was popular on both the network and in syndication. The series was relaunched by CBS in 1988 with Ray Combs as presenter, and it was enlarged to an hour-long format in 1992 before being canceled in 1993. Combs also hosted the corresponding syndicated series until1994, when he was replaced by Dawson for one season. During this time, the series extended to an hour-long format before being canceled in 1995. In later iterations, Louie Anderson, Richard Karn, and John O'Hurley served as hosts. Since the 2010–11 television season, comedian/actor Steve Harvey has presented Family Feud. The ratings for the show reportedly increased dramatically under Harvey. During John O'Hurley's tenure as host, the ratings for Family Feud increased by 40 percent compared to the previous year. During the 2011–12 season, the rapidly ascending game show averaged a 4.0 rating and ranked fifth in all of syndication. Family Feud has consistently been the second highest rated daytime television program as of the 2012–13 season. In2013, TV Guide ranked it third among the 60 greatest game shows of all time.
