The plot centers around Haruka Nanase, a boy who loves to swim. Before elementary school, he swam with Makoto Tachibana, Nagisa Hazuki, and Rin Matsuoka. Each boy left after winning. Rin challenges Haruka to a match during their unremarkable high school years to demonstrate her his power. Haruka collects Makoto, Nagisa, and Rei Ryugazaki to form the Iwatobi High School Swimming Club to challenge Rin.
