George

George was a Swiss-Canadian television show that aired on CTV on Thursday evenings between 1972 and 1973. The series was based on the 1971 film George!, which followed the exploits of a St. Bernard dog and his Swiss owner. Marshall Thompson appeared in both the film and the half-hour series that followed. On September 16, 1972, the programme made its CTV debut in a Thursday evening time slot. George, on the other hand, was cancelled after one season in 1973. Blaik Kirby of the Globe and Mail called the show "abysmal." Despite its brief run and poor critical reception, the series was rebroadcast on CTV affiliates for years, mostly to fill Saturday morning schedules.
