Hamatora (, "Yokohama Tiger") is a Japanese mixed-media project. The project started with a manga series written by Yukino Kitajima. Yki Kodama designed the characters, and Y Wazu is making the design work for the illustrations. The manga, Hamatora: The Comic, first came out in Shueisha's Young Jump magazine in November 2013. Hamatora: The Animation, an anime TV show by the studio NAZ, started on TV Tokyo on January 7 and ran for twelve episodes until March 25, 2014. It was followed by Re: Hamatora, a second series by Lerche that started in July 2014. A role-playing game called Hamatora: Look at Smoking World was made by FuRyu and came out in July 2014. There are also a light novel and a stage play that are related. In 2014, when the series takes place, some humans, called Minimum Holders, have been found to have supernatural abilities. The story is about Minimum Holder Nice, who starts a detective agency called "Hamatora" in Yokohama. He makes a lot of friends, like his partner Murasaki and assistant Hajime, and a lot of enemies, like several criminals. The anime stars Ry?ta ?saka, Wataru Hatano, Emiri Kat?, Kiyono Yasuno, Jun Fukuyama, and Yuichi Nakamura among others. Publications that cover manga and anime have given the series both positive and negative reviews. While the mystery parts have been liked, the themes and animation have been criticized. It has also often been compared to the X-Men because of its setting and characters.
