Heidi Bergman is a caseworker at Homecoming, a facility of the Geist Group that assists troops in their transition to civilian life. An auditor from the Department of Defense inquires as to why she left the Homecoming facility years later, when she is living with her mother and working as a waitress. Heidi suddenly learns that the fiction she has been telling herself conceals a whole different narrative.
