TV show Ice Pilots NWT depicts Buffalo Airways, a Yellowknife-based Northwest Territories-based airline that operates out of the city's airport. For most of the year, Buffalo flies WWII-era propeller planes in Canada's northernmost provinces. In 2009, it debuted on November 18. For August2,2010, the show was renewed for a second season and production on that season wrapped up. On January 12, 2011, History Television aired the season opener. Season 3 premiered on October12, 2011 after being greenlit on August18, 2010. Quest aired the second series in the United Kingdom beginning in May 2011. Season 4 episodes aired on the Discovery Channel in the United Kingdom. Ice Pilots' first season premiered on the National Geographic Channel in the United States on April 22nd of that year. This series' first and second seasons have both aired on the Australian digital channel 7 Mate as well as the National Geographic Channel and National Geographic Channel HD channels in the country. As of February2,2012, The Weather Channel announced that it would be airing an hour-long primetime special called Ice Pilots. Seasons 1 and 2 of the show premiered on The Weather Channel on March5, 2012. However, the National Geographic Channel does occasionally run episodes of the show.
