Ideal is a dark comedy sitcom developed by Graham Duff and produced by BBC Comedy North and Baby Cow Productions that premiered on digital channel BBC Three in the United Kingdom. Moz, a small-time marijuana dealer, is played by Johnny Vegas. It is set in Salford, Greater Manchester, and was chosen because Duff was familiar with the city from his youth, having performed many stand-up shows there. The majority of the series takes place at Moz's flat and centers around the diverse cast of folks who come to see him to buy marijuana, socialize, or both. The concluding theme is "Song of the Oss," a song by British band Candidate from the album Nuada: Music Inspired By the Film The Wicker Man. Ugly Duckling, a Californian hip hop trio, contributes several songs to the series. It aired in the United Kingdom on BBC Three, Ireland on 3e, and Australia on ABC2. Seven series have aired since its debut in 2005, with the most recent ending on June 30, 2011. Ideal was cancelled by the BBC after the seventh season aired. Graham Duff, the writer and creator, wrote to fans following the announcement: "The BBC has opted not to commission an eighth season of Ideal, as some of you may have heard. The new channel controller wants to do a clean sweep, according to the explanation. The fact that Ideal was attracting its largest ever audiences, highest-profile guest stars, and best-ever reviews at the time of closure is both a source of pride and frustration. And, for the first time, the show is being broadcast in more places than ever before, from the United States to Finland and beyond." A campaign to save the show has been established by fans.
