Junior MasterChef is a BBC-broadcast British cooking competition in which nine to twelve-year-olds compete for the title of Junior MasterChef. It is a spin-off of the original MasterChef series. Junior MasterChef first aired from 1994 to1999, with Loyd Grossman as host. After a lengthy absence, it was reintroduced in 2010 with a new format, hosted by writer and actress Nadia Sawalha, a former competitor on Celebrity MasterChef and restaurant owner, and professional chef John Torode, who also hosts MasterChef. The revived series was commissioned by Anne Gilchrist, controller of CBBC, produced by Shine Television, and broadcast on BBC One. In2012, CBBC commissioned another series for transmission.
