Shiho and Hyou are war-orphans in ancient China (475-221 BCE) during the Warring States Period. Someday, they hope to demonstrate their mettle on the front lines. A minister does, however, one day bring Hyou into the palace. Although she ends up on the wrong side of a power battle, Hyou makes it back to the village with her life barely in tact. Afterward, Shin encounters Ei Sei, a boy who looks a lot like Hyou. He is currently the king of Qin, but he will one day be the emperor Shi Huangdi, as well.
