Lawman
John Russell played Marshal Dan Troop on ABC's Lawman from 1958 to1962. Peter Brown played Deputy Marshal Johnny McKay. The series is set in Laramie, Wyoming in the 1880s. Warner Bros. had already launched Cheyenne with Clint Walker in 1955. Maverick starring James Garner and Jack Kelly, Colt.45 starring Wayde Preston, and Sugarfoot starring Will Hutchins continued the tradition in 1957. Ty Hardin's Lawman and Bronco followed a year later. Russell, Brown, and producer Jules Schermer vowed to preserve the series' quality so it wouldn't be "just another western." Peggie Castle joins Russell and Brown as Dan's love interest Lily Merrill in season 2.
