Kim Jung-eun and Lee Seo-jin play the roles of a mobster and a plastic surgeon, respectively, who find themselves in an improbable romantic relationship in the television series Lovers, which originates from South Korea. It began airing on SBS on November 8, 2006, and ended on January 11, 2007, with a total of twenty episodes airing on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 21:55 over that time period. This is the concluding chapter in the "Lovers" trilogy that was written by Kim Eun-sook and directed by Shin Woo-chul. In contrast to the previous two parts of the series, Lovers in Paris and Lovers in Prague, which were both partially shot in Europe, Lovers was entirely shot on location in Hainan Island, China. Turn Around and Leave, a stage play written by Lee Man-hee, served as the basis for the critically acclaimed film A Promise, which was released in 1998 and starred Jeon Do-yeon and Park Shin-yang. Lovers is an adaptation of Turn Around and Leave.
