MasterChef New Zealand is a New Zealand cooking competition modeled on the British version of MasterChef. Akin to MasterChef Australia, candidates participate in weekly elimination rounds, including team challenges. The biggest distinction is that the New Zealand series has only one episode per week, while the Australian series has five episodes per week. In the season finale, which aired on April 28, 2010, Brett McGregor defeated runner-up Kelly Young to claim the title. Nadia Lim won the second season by defeating Jax Hamilton in the championship match. Chelsea Winter won the third season by defeating Ana Schwarz in the championship.
