It is based on Park So-Korean hee's manhwa Goong. It aired on Munhwa Broadcasting Corporation on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 21:55 for 24 episodes from January 11 to March 30, 2006. Princess Hours was MBC's second most popular drama in 2006, after only Jumong. According to TNS Media, the show was the ninth most popular drama of 2006. Because of its popularity, a spin-off series, Goong S, debuted on January 10, 2007.
