Rebelde is a Televisa-produced Mexican telenovela developed by Cris Morena. It is a remake of the popular Argentine television series Rebelde Way modified for a Mexican audience, resulting in alterations in the character's origins. The sitcom aired in Mexico for the last time on June 2, 2006, after three seasons. Televisa's new series Código Postal replaced Rebelde in June 2006. The series takes place in the Elite Way School, a prestigious private boarding high school in Mexico City, with the primary plot revolving around a group of kids forming a pop band. There are further subplots involving the staff and the parents of the students. The employment of odd English words and phrases by fresa characters is a defining characteristic of the show. A unique component of the series is that the actors portraying the band members are members of a real band named RBD and perform the majority of the music utilized in the series. They have become one of the most popular groups in Latin America and have toured globally. Rebelde aired from March 21, 2005 through December 15, 2006. The program was also shown in 65 other nations, including Serbia, Peru, and Romania on Acasa TV; Brazil, Spain on Antena3; Slovenia, Bulgaria; and, beginning in September2009, Slovakia on TV Doma, Croatia on Nova TV, and Albania on Vizion Plus.
