Search is an American science fiction television series that ran from September 1972 to August 1973 on NBC on Wednesday nights at 10:00 p.m. ET. It aired for a total of 23 episodes, excluding the two-hour pilot feature named Probe. Due to an existing PBS series with the name Probe, the title had to be altered when the pilot was picked up for series production. The series aired on BBC 1 in the United Kingdom under the title Search Control. Leslie Stevens conceived the show, which was produced by Leslie Stevens, Robert Justman, John Strong, and Tony Spinner. The high idea was defined as "science fiction in the modern world," and the episodes incorporated numerous high-tech aspects that are typical of contemporary science fiction television programs.
