The Apollo Theater produces Showtime at the Apollo, a syndicated music television show that initially aired on September 12, 1987 and ran for 1093 episodes until May 24, 2008. The show offers live performances by both professional and up-and-coming performers, as well as the popular Amateur Night competition held at the famed Apollo Theater in Manhattan's Harlem district, where the show is taped. While there is a live version of the show every Wednesday, the television version is usually broadcast on weekends.
