Spider-Man is a Toei Company live-action TV series based on Marvel's Spider-Man character. The series ran from May17,1978, to March14,1979, on Tokyo Channel 12 at 19:30 JST on Wednesdays. On July22,1978, Toei Manga Matsuri screened a theatrical episode. Marvel posted all 41 episodes and the movie with English subtitles from March 5 to December24, 2009. Toei's version of the character wore the same suit as his Marvel counterpart, but the backstory and origin of his powers were different. This Spider-Man controlled a massive robot, Leopardon, to fight bigger versions of the show's monsters. Toei used gigantic robots in later Super Sentai series.
