The animated television series Spider-Man first debuted on September 9, 1967, and ran all the way through June 14, 1970. Stan Lee and Steve Ditko were the creators of the Spider-Man comic book series. In the United States, it made its debut on the ABC television network; however, towards the beginning of the third season, it was distributed via syndication for the first time. The first season of the show was produced by Grantray-Lawrence Animation. In New York City, the show's producer Ralph Bakshi was responsible for the creation of Seasons 2 and 3. This show is presently being broadcast on Teletoon Retro in Canada. An online meme referring to the series and popularly referred to as 1960s Spiderman has amassed an incredible amount of popularity on the internet. The meme is created by taking a screenshot from an unrelated point of the series and then adding a caption that is either offensive or humorous. Following the passing of Max Ferguson on March 7, 2013, there are now only three members of the original cast still alive. These three individuals are Paul Soles, who provides the voice for Spider-Man; Chris Wiggins, who does the voice for Mysterio; and Carl Banas, who provides the voice for Scorpion.
