When the rent of a storage locker in California is unpaid for a period of three months, the contents of the locker may be sold by an auctioneer as a single lot of things through the medium of a cash-only auction. The show follows expert purchasers who make their purchases based solely on a five-minute evaluation of what they can see from the door when it is open. When the door is closed, they cannot see any of the items within. The objective is to achieve a positive return on the investment made in the goods.
