The Dick Van Dyke Show is a popular American sitcom that debuted on CBS on October 3, 1961 and ran until June 1, 1966. It was one of the longest running comedies in the history of American television. Carl Reiner was the mind behind the show's conception, and its cast included Dick Van Dyke, Rose Marie, Morey Amsterdam, and Mary Tyler Moore. The professional and personal lives of television comedy writer Rob Petrie served as the show's primary focal points. Reiner, together with Bill Persky and Sam Denoff, was responsible for the production of the show. Earle Hagen was the composer of the show's signature tune, which was performed at the beginning of each episode. Emmys were given out in the amount of 15 to the series. It May Look Like a Walnut" and "Coast-to-Coast Big Mouth" were placed eighth and fifteenth, respectively, on TV Guide's list of the 100 Greatest Episodes of All Time in 1997.
