The Games
The Games was a television series in Australia about the Summer Olympics in Sydney in 2000. The sitcom initially aired on ABC and had two seasons of 13 episodes each, the first in 1998 and the second in 2000. 'The Games' included Australian comedian Gina Riley and actor Nicholas Bell, as well as satirists John Clarke and Bryan Dawe. John Clarke and Ross Stevenson penned it. The series satirized corruption and favoritism in the Olympic movement, bureaucratic ineptness in the New South Wales public sector, and unethical behavior in politics and the media. To create the illusion of a documentary about the Sydney Games, the characters shared the same name as the actors who performed them.
