The Hollow Crown is a British television film series based on William Shakespeare's History Plays. The first season is an adaptation of Shakespeare's second historical tetralogy, the Henriad, which includes Richard II, Henry IV, Part I and Part II (which are treated as one film in two parts in the series), and Henry V. Because of its scope, the Second Season is titled "The Wars of the Roses." It is based on Shakespeare's first tetralogy, which includes Henry VI: Part I, Part II, Part III (which is handled as two films in the series), and Richard III.
