The Jetsons is an American animated sitcom made by Hanna-Barbera. It first aired in primetime from 1962 to1963, and then from 1964 to1987, it was part of The Funtastic World of Hanna-Barbera, which was a block of weekday and weekend morning shows. From 1984 to 1987, there were also new episodes. It was Hanna-answer Barbera's to The Flintstones in the space age. Boomerang often shows repeats of old shows. The Flintstones live in a world where machines are powered by birds and dinosaurs. The Jetsons, on the other hand, live in the year 2062 in a utopian future where robots, aliens, holograms, and strange inventions are everywhere. The first season had 24 episodes, which aired on ABC on Sunday nights starting September23,1962, and in prime time until September8, 1963. At the time it first aired, it was the first show ABC-TV had ever shown in color. The Flintstones, on the other hand, was always made in color, but the first two seasons were only shown in black-and-white. After its time slot in prime time, the show ran for decades on Saturday mornings, first on ABC in 1963–64 and then on CBS and NBC in later years.
